DIMINUTIVE GEORGE III MAHOGANY WINGBACK ARM CHAIR
Probably English, 19th Century
Item # 611EKI21M

This unusual and most attractive diminutive wingback arm chair is crafted with an unrelenting curvature in the wings and crest, these undulating in all three dimensions to hug the sitter most effectively.  Designed for a very petite sitter or possibly even as a child’s chair, it is incredibly comfortable and warm if you are of the intended size for the chair.  Covered in a nice pale green linen, the upholstery remains in good condition and certainly still enjoyable - the construction is heavy and incredibly sturdy, no wiggle or give in any joint.  The square legs and H-stretchers retain a beautiful early patina.  A rather striking object, unusual and visually interesting strikepoint for both the classical and eclectic interior.

Measurements:  41 5/8" H x 22" W x 25 1/2" D, 15" H to seat; trapezoidal seat is 18 1/4" W at front edge, 13 1/2" W at back corner, total seat depth of 18"

Condition Report:
Fabric in "good" condition w/ only minor discolorations. Sturdy, strong & comfortable.  Covering not removed to examine frame for purity:  Side stretchers replaced w/ period elements, these with old cracks and repairs (19th century iron bracket securing one), back foot w/ spliced repair. Castors absent from feet.
