PAIR OF LOUIS XV STYLE GREEN PAINTED AND PARCEL GILDED SIDE CHAIRS
19th century, with pegged tenon-mortised joints
Item # 611CBA05
An excellent pair of mid-to-late 19th century side chairs in the Louis XV taste, they are crafted with precision using tenon-mortise joints locked together with pins that are just barely visible under the surface with hairline cracking where the pin naturally shrinks and contracts over time. The crest rail, apron and knees are beautifully carved with floral relief, the inner and outer edges of the frame carefully highlighted in a burnished gilt paint. The cabriole legs terminate in gentle scrolls over tapered stump toes.
This was originally a much larger suite that has been separated out into more manageable pairs of chairs, but the other pieces may still be available in our collection if you browse our full inventory - they include a settee, two pairs of arm chairs and another pair of side chairs.
