AN EXCEPTIONAL ART DECO STYLE MACASSAR AND LEATHER LOUNGE CHAIR
A very fine reproduction of Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann’s model 152 chair, circa late 20th/early 21st century
Item # 609KZT19A-2
An incredibly well conceived chair in almost identical replication of Emile-Jacques Ruhlmann’s model 152, the form is quickly identifiable with his work in the faceted aprons and distinct arm columns - these were employed in Ruhlmann’s chairs as well sideboards, commodes and other small case pieces. An overall rounded form is carried through the shoulders and into the swollen baluster front legs, each with deep fluting surrounding each leg, finished in a tiny painted ivory ball crest and terminating in painted spherical toes. The gorgeous top grain leather covering is in beautiful vintage condition with a mellow patina, remaining soft and perfectly pliable with traces of history worn into the surface. These are probably the most comfortable chairs we have sat in for several years now, the back and sides perfectly hugging the sitter while the cushion has excellent support and the leather a warm silky touch. We may have the pair to this chair still available in the shop inventory or upon request.
