A FINELY PAINTED ADAM’S STYLE DEMILUNE CABINET
Original label from William F. Wholey, New York; circa 1930
Item # 801GDZ27
This is an incredibly striking demilune cabinet with exquisite painted surface detailing throughout. The garlands of draped foliage, the urn in the center of the drawer, the strings of honeysuckle and flowing ribbon - everything is expertly painted and of inordinately good quality. A single drawer in the top easily slides in and out of the case, this being a machine-dovetailed drawer retaining a pair of original stamped brass knobs; the inner frame retains the original label from William F. Wholey Company of New York. A pair of doors are painted with an octagonal framed painting in the center of a female. These open to reveal a pair of scalloped shelves with adjustable bracketing on the side. The entire cabinet rests over turned and tapered legs.
This is such an interesting strikepoint piece - classical, vibrant and of exceedingly good quality.
