American Classical Mahogany Breakfast Table, New York c. 1815
AMERICAN CLASSICAL MAHOGANY BREAKFAST TABLE
New York, circa 1815
Item # 803DIV07Z
A very fine and precisely crafted table of elegant thin proportions, the highly figured mahogany is dense and beautiful, each leaf hanging over thumb joints on original iron hinges. The concave drawer on one side perfectly matches the faux drawer front in the apron on the other side, both with original lion mask pulls. The four ring-turned columns raise the table over the undulating klismo legs with large reeding, each terminating in crisp and finely cast lion paws over brass castors. It is an incredibly beautiful table with unusually attractive dimensions, the reserved depth allowing the table to meld beautifully as a console.
Measurements: 20 5/8” W x 38 1/8” D x 28 3/8” H, 39 1/4” W when opened
Old refinish with only minor wear and light sunfading, overall remaining in excellent condition. The drawer has been repaired a few times with replaced quarter blocking in the corners. All original hardware.
