AMERICAN STUDIO MODERN INLAID MIXED-WOOD COFFEE TABLE
Finely hand dovetailed maple and walnut, circa 1990s
Item # 802PQA07Q
This is such a distinct and interesting coffee table that is relatively simple at a first glance, inordinately complex upon closer examination. The legs formed from maple and walnut, these glued together before carving and sculpting the legs by hand to create the ovular taper of the leg. Each leg is inlaid with stringer set at a curvature identical to the joint of the maple and walnut. A thick glass top floats without any resistance or barrier other than the leg post projections, the maple stretchers locking into the frame on either side with full depth dovetail joints.
It is an unsigned piece, likely from the last quarter of the 20th century. For the collector and interior designer passionate about artisan made furnishings, this is an exceptional selection.
Measurements: 51 1/2” W x 22” D x 19 1/2” H (table frame is 16” D)
Glass with a few small chips to corners and edges; this can be replaced upon request. Minor scuffs and abrasion, overall remaining in nearly pristine original condition.
