An Exceptional Louis Xvi Style Three-Tier Ecoignure Stand
AN EXCEPTIONAL LOUIS XVI STYLE THREE-TIER ECOIGNURE STAND
Gray marble, brass, bronze and mahogany; Paris, circa 1900
Item # 805RHI23P
This is a particularly nice three-tier ecoignure crafted of fine quality materials, the dense solid mahogany utlized in all legs being highlighted by pressed brass fluting and bronze sabots and cast rims for the upper and lower tiers around a wonderfully veined gray marble. Finely chiseled acanthus on either corner flank a pierced lattice-work along the apron with bands of blossoming foliage surrounded by bead framing. The work is of remarkably high standard, the crisp dovetail joinery locking together the back corners while the form and proportions are notable. For collectors of very fine French objects, this is an exquisite stand that would be perfectly suited for presentation of bronze sculpture and other objects of art.
Measurements: 21 7/8” W x 15 1/8” D x 35 1/2” H
Mid-tier with breakouts beneath where screws affix into side posts; metal brackets have been installed to secure screws to this tier. Scuffs and discolorations to the brass, a few added nails to brass fluting. Sturdy, strong and a fine presentation.
