ANTIQUE WORN TWO-TONE GEOMETRICAL ROOM SIZE RUG
Probably Turkish, first quarter of 20th century
Item # 702DJT22
This stark and unusually angular rug was woven with an eye towards minimalism, the reduced pallete most attractive for it’s lack of distraction; the colors are worn and wonderfully mellowed throughout. While the structure and pile remain soft and pliable to the touch, the pile has been worn quite low and clearly reveals the sharpness of the geometry. While nearly a hundred years old, it is such an interesting piece for the modern interior and most effective in a minimal environment where the room requires some history and patina without a distracting high-chroma design.
Measurements: 140" L x 97 1/2” W
Extensive discoloration throughout. One corner with heavy wear that extends through the rug; associated reweaving. Ends reduced. Loose selvedge cords with reweaving and losses around selvedge.
