Danish Rosewood Hoop Back Arm Chair | Kjaernulf for Hansen
DANISH ROSEWOOD HOOP BACK ARM CHAIR BY KJAERNULF FOR HANSEN
Model 255; Bruno Hansen stamp to underside, Denmark circa 1950s
Item # 806QCA15
This gorgeous arm chair was designed by Henning Kjaernulf for retail by Bruno Hansen in Denmark during the 1950s with a striking hoopback form reminiscent of the Wishbone chair by Hans Wegner. The frame is carved from rosewood while the thin curved seat is upholstered in black vinyl. Particularly distinct are the Y-shapes expressed in the joint of the back with each leg. It is usually crafted in teak, but the use of rosewood is very attractive and lends a certain denseness to the wood that holds the glow of the rubbed finish a bit more brilliantly. We may have a second chair still available in the shop, though it would be a good idea to contact us to verify.
