WALNUT, WHITE LACQUER AND CHROME STEEL CREDENZA
Florence Knoll, Knoll Associates, circa 1960s, unmarked
Item # 708RCP09Z
This credenza is notable for its remarkably well designed sliding door system. The “train-track” allows all doors to close in a flush position, but the end doors to slide in behind the pair of middle doors when the ends are opened. Smooth gliding is achieved by using tiny nylon rods in a carefully positioned groove to allow the doors to slip inward and backward into the case. All door fronts retain their original white lacquer surface with recessed aluminum slots that act as knobs for working the doors. The inside of the cabinet is lined in golden oak veneers and shows numerous shelves and a single drawer on the left; two additional shelves are available to install as well. Remaining in excellent original condition throughout, the cabinet is a simple, functional and most attractive office credenza.
