French Louis XVI Style Black Lacquer Writing Desk, late 20th century
FRENCH LOUIS XVI STYLE EBONIZED WRITING DESK
Circa late 20th century, with a gilt-tooled leather writing surface
Item # 801KON30P
An attractive writing desk in the Louis XVI taste, this piece was likely crafted in the last thirty years or thereabouts and remains in excellent condition throughout. The black lacquer surface contrasts beautifully against the brass rings, sabots and pulls. All of the drawers are machine-dovetailed and a high quality cast brass pull is draped on each. It is a beautiful decorator piece for the classical interior, melding particularly well with Art Deco, the Neoclassical forms and anything French.
Measurements: 56 3/8” W x 29 7/8” D x 30 1/4” H
One of the brass sabots missing from the back right proper leg. Minor scuffs, abrasions and wear to ebonized surface; some touch ups to ebony lacquer here and there; light craquelure. No key.
