Georgian Style Carved Mahogany Lolling Armchair Circa 19th-20th Century
GEORGIAN STYLE CARVED MAHOGANY LOLLING ARMCHAIR
England circa late 19th century/early 20th century
Item # 805ZIP12L
This fine English antique arm chair is crafted in the Georgian manner with a distinct Gothic influence in the raised latticework decorating its surfaces. Retaining an early and perhaps original finish, the mahogany has darkened and glows beautifully with a more brilliant ruby in areas that see more handling and wear. It is an austere form intended for comfort as a lounging chair in the study or library with a deeply cushioned frame, well sprung seat and over-upholstered arms that support the sitter fully. The arm supports perfectly match the decorating of the legs with a diamond-and-barrel formation in the raised-relief. For anyone passionate about fine English antiques, this is a gorgeous acquisition in perfect presentation ready condition, an enjoyable lounging chair that introduces both beauty and deep comfort to the classical interior.
