Italian Antique Bronze Bust of a Roman Statesman, 19th Century
ITALIAN BRONZE BUST OF A ROMAN STATESMAN
Circa 19th Century
Item # 602VAP06Q
A moving and quite dramatic work, particularly as it is an inanimate bust, the figure is powerful and regal. A sand cast bust of a Roman gentleman or philosopher, the work was probably executed during the second half of the 19th century and is very nicely detailed. The sculpture retains it’s original ebonized patina and rests over the integral and original plinth base, this raising the sculpture over an original soldered rod affixing from the center of the sculpture down to the socle. Remaining in an exceptional state of preservation, this is a fine statement piece that defines a space.
Measurements: 15 3/4” H x 9 1/4” W x 7” D
Original ebonized patina with loss in a few areas (forehead, some hair, other minor losses), traces of verdigris oxidization in crevices. Overall exceptional condition.
