Italian Neoclassical Pietra Dura Center Table over Bronze Base
ITALIAN NEOCLASSICAL PIETRA DURA CENTER TABLE OVER VERDIGRIS BRONZE BASE
19th century stone top over early 20th century base, unmarked
Item # 811CMG20A
An exceptional center table with a striking blend of the modern and historical, the angular Greek-key form bronze base was likely crafted during the first half of the 20th century and is finished in an attractive green verdigris patina. It supports a dramatic 19th century pietra dura specimen top with an outer ring of Sienna marble set at angles against Egyptian black marble and green marbles; four-leaf clover formations in the next ring are executed in a rouge marble before a wide ring of porphyry. The entire design is held in a solid piece of Carrara marble with a simple molded edge. It is an exquisite and rare strikepoint piece.
Measurements: 30 1/4” H x 47 1/2” diameter
Some edge chips to marble top, chip in the porphory, discolorations and other minor blemishes to top. Minor scuffs to patinated base.
