THE “KUSAKA" LONG SIDEBOARD BY JOHN REED FOX
Executed in walnut with bubinga & basswood; signed reverse
Item # 711PZA25Q
An exceptional work of art by educator, designer and wood artisan John Reed Fox of Acton, MA, this very fine table is executed entirely in solid planks of walnut, bubinga and basswood. The table shows the distinct Japanese influence Fox incorporates beautifully into all of his work, the simple and tight lines lending angularity that is softened by the thick sloped corners of the top and outward curve of the legs. A pair of sliding doors with a series of repeating recessed panels glide smoothly to reveal a shelved left-hand side and a pair of drawers on the right. These are beautifully executed with crisp hand dovetailing. The back of the sideboard is signed John Reed Fox 1/98.
