LEON RIKET (BELGIUM, 1876-1938) LANDSCAPE PAINTING COTTAGE BY THE LAKE
Signed lower left “Leon Riket"
Item # 603JPS31P

An incredibly well preserved work, this gorgeous original painting by Léon Riket captures with light impressionism an afternoon by the lake from the perspective of a well trod dirt path, the large country cottage in the background overlooking a field of wheat with traces of forest in the distance.  The complex mix of high chroma colors blend and layer to capture the true depth and complexity of nature’s landscape.  Two lone figures can be seen walking the lake in front of the cottage.  The condition of the work is just outstanding, the painting retaining it’s original lining and the surface full of vibrancy.

Léon Riket studied at the Academie voor Schone Kunsten and the Hoger Instituut voor Schone Kunsten in Antwerp. He was a member of the Ken U Zelf (“Know Thyself”) group of Belgian painters, going on to be achieve a medal in Paris in 1913.
