FRENCH LOUIS XVI STYLE CARVED WALNUT ARM CHAIRS
Item # 708SHP09
The crisp carved surface embellishment of these Neoclassical chairs is noteworthy, the hand carved detailing deep and exquisite. The walnut has been burnished to a high glow from years of careful use, the mellowed patina most attractive throughout. Along the top of the chair rail is a gorgeous floral display over a squared back finished with caning framed in the common twisted-rope motif. The open arms curve down and terminate in well developed acanthus carved hand-holds over twist-turned columns, these flanking an early hand-stitched tapestry seat affixed with brass tacks. The simple apron is highlighted with a repeated beading, the angular legs with the same twist-turnings of the columns and set over simple tapered feet. They are a most pleasing pair in outstanding original condition and will certainly be a cherished addition to a classical interior.
