FINE HANDMADE TIGER MAPLE SHAKER STYLE CANDLESTAND
Circa 1992, crafted by Jack McGuire in Vermont (unlabeled)
Item # 711AUW25P
This very sleek and finely crafted solid curly maple candlestand is austere and designed with simple effective lines. The round top is chamfered around the edges to lighten the visual weight of the top, allowing the thin edge to float over the tapered and turned pedestal column. The demilune legs lock into the pedestal with tiny dovetail pins. Crafted with a beautiful selection of planks, the cut across the grains creates the most lovely striation and shifting hue in the wood, the surface of which has softened in color to a mellowed golden hue. The simplicity and clean line allows it to meld beautifully in even a more modern aesthetic. We acquired the pair to this table from the same estate - this table is unmarked, but the pair to it is labeled by the shop of Jack McGuire and dated for August 1992; this may still be available in our shop inventory or upon request.
Measurements: 151/2” diameter, 26 1/2” H
Light surface discoloration in center of top, probably from having an object that blocked sun. Old glued crack where one of the dovetails in the leg broke out at some point. Minor surface scuffs, overall remaining in very good condition.
