TURKISH ANATOLIAN OUSHAK STYLE HAND-KNOTTED RUG
Circa late 20th century
Item # 704TLC05P
This very striking hand-knotted vintage Oushak rug was probably woven during the last quarter of the twentieth century, perhaps earlier. It is a most attractive style, timeless with it’s sharp geometry and muted tones. The primary ground shows various hues of beige in veins across the open expanse, the perfect symmetry of the field with angular vines and hints of floral inspiration. The mellow blue border shows a lattice-work of vines across the broad space, the blues of this border followed tastefully in a handful of motifs across the center of the rug. It has a nice low pile that allows the sharp design to show, the wool soft and pliable with a strong understructure. It is an estate rug that has seen only minimal and quite respectful use, remaining overall in outstanding condition. The gentle tones and open design allow it to meld perfectly with the modern interior.
Measurements: 95 1/2" W x 122 1/2" L
Minor discoloration/grime to the beige, one spot in blue ground; has not been professionally cleaned. Otherwise outstanding estate condition.
