TURKISH ANATOLIAN OUSHAK STYLE ROOM RIZE RUG
Probably middle of the 20th century
Item # 702PCZ11A
A classic rug design that borrows heavily from the classical Persian motifs of the 19th century, this piece was hand-knotted during the mid-20th century with a wonderful low-chroma palette. The low saturation tealish-gray of the primary ground allows a sharp contrast with the chaotic vine-and-foliate flow of motifs throughout the center. The cream outer border is characterized by angular leafage and blossoming vines curling across the open space. It is beautifully plush, a most comfortable rug underfoot and woven with an angular and nearly achromatic color scheme that is most striking in the modern interior.
