ART DECO WALNUT LIGHTED BAR CABINET
Circa 1920-40, retaining original accessories
Item # 804OMP21P
This is such an incredibly fine piece! In every sense true to the spirit of the Art Deco movement, this angular mini bar cabinet is simple in form while rich in material and design. The primary surfaces are all veneered in a dramatic walnut, the front doors and fall front all bookmatched to showcase the burl of the tree as effectively as possible. Original and very complex hardware is crafted of stacked bakelite and copper. By pulling down on the fall front, a levered mechanism will operate to lift the lid at the same rate as the fall, revealing a lighted interior with a mirrored prep surface affixed with custom steel tabs, a scroll cut piece of wood along the edge shaped such that it can store six glasses when closed. Six olive spikes flank the original orange squeeze in the lid. Opening the lower cabinet reveals a storage area for liquors and wine.
Such a carefully preserved cabinet is a rare find on the market and is an exquisite piece of history - it is also one of the most fun cabinets we’ve brought into the shop in some time!
