Biedermeier Style Cherrywood Circular Dining Table, 19th Century
BIEDERMEIER STYLE WALNUT CIRCULAR DINING TABLE
Continental, circa late 19th century
Item # 810GPP16O
An attractive center table crafted in the austere Biedermeier taste, probably during the last quarter of the 19th century, the top is veneered in figured walnut. The edge is bevelled and projects slightly over a thin apron. To allow the piece to safely be transported, it was designed such that the top "spins" off of the pedestal with a large original threaded dowel in the top of the pedestal. There is a distinct gothic influence in the recessed candle formations around the octagonal faceted pedestal. The top should at some point be refinished to allow for an even polish.
Measurements: 56 1/4" diameter x 28 7/8" H
Finish inconsistencies to the top (three spots of water damage), old shrinkage cracks in top; patches to veneers around edges, minor scuffs and abrasions throughout. Sturdy and strong.
