About us

silla was born out of a passion for beautiful objects: special pieces with aesthetic and historical significance. In 2009, after years of collecting, Andrew Silla and his wife Grace began to work privately with clients from their residence in Southern Maryland. Quickly outgrowing the space, the business was moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in 2012 and after several warehouse location changes it was firmly settled in the present brick-and-mortar location in downtown Shippensburg.

The 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery is home to a large collection of works of art and estate jewelry. We specialize in sculpture circa 1860 through 1930 with a particular emphasis on the Animaliers and as such the gallery always has a very large collection of exceptional European and American sculpture available on display.

CHROME STEEL AND RAW SILK DAYBED
Designed and manufactured by Brayton International, circa 1970s
Item # 208KZW18P

A sleek and austere mid-century modern daybed designed by Brayton International, it features a tubular steel body that is finished in a high-quality chrome. The surface has held up beautifully over the decades, the undulating curvatures of the tubing wrapping around the head and foot of the bench to surround the upholstered seat. The neutral hue of the upholstery is quite pleasing and the covering overall remains in good condition with only minor blemishes. The daybed retains an old reupholstery label to the underside.

Measurements: 13 3/4" H x 29" D x 75" W

Condition Report: In good overall condition with some light discoloration and pilling to the fabric. A comfortable overall seat with good cushion support. Chrome in overall good condition with trace vintage wear/scuff/abrasions and minor tarnishing. Presents beautifully.
