"DORÉ FAISAN" (GOLDEN PHEASANT) CAST AFTER MODEL BY HENRI EMILE ADRIEN TRODOUX
France, circa late 19th century; signed TRODOUX in base
Item # 811XSS18P
An attractive bronze model of a Golden Pheasant, also known as the Chinese Pheasant, there is a certain stylization in the sculpture that is reminiscent of Egyptian Revival while also adhering closely to both accuracy and objectivity in the modeling of the bird. It is a fine entry model for collectors beginning the journey into bronze sculpture, this proud bird being relatively complex for a sculptor to effectively capture as it struts over a naturalistic base of stumps and roots among foliage. The casting is admirable with good chiseling of surfaces and an even original chemical patina throughout. The base is signed in his typical manner "TRODOUX" with large block letters.
