ART NOUVEAU CARVED WALNUT SERVER CONSOLE
French, circa early 20th century; with finely carved grape leaves
Item # 911DHP16L
A gorgeous walnut server that is part of a larger dining room set we just acquired, including six dining chairs, a dining table and a larger serving buffet - these may be available by browsing our shop inventory.
Crafted during the first quarter of the 20th century, the Art Nouveau aesthetic is beautifully developed in the carvings and overall form. The cabinet features numerous displays of grape leaves surrounded by bunches of grapes, each scene being incredibly detailed and true to life - not simply stylized representations, but the carved designs of a highly skilled hand.
The solid walnut is finished in oil, allowing the rich grain to remain near to the eye with the wood left as nearly natural as is practical. The doors, drawers and back panel of the splash-back are veneered in a vibrant cut of walnut with wonderful ribbing in the grain.
As should be expected, the craftsmanship is excellent. Drawers are hand dovetailed with oak linings and the back of the case is divided into panels set in grooves in the framing.
Measurements: 52 5/8" H x 17 1/2" D x 48 1/4" W
No key. Very minor scuffs and use indicators, old discolorations to the surface. Old shrinkage cracks in both doors.
