FRENCH LOUIS XVI STYLE CARVED GILTWOOD OPEN-ARM SETTEE
Circa early 20th century
Item # 104CPB15L
An absolutely gorgeous settee crafted in the Louis XVI taste during the first quarter of the 20th century, it is executed with period craftsmanship utilizing tiny wooden dowels to secure the tenon-mortised joinery and is beautifully finished in a vibrant gilding. The carved motifs are typical of the period and allow it to match beautifully with similar forms of the style and period, the overall settee resting over the distinctive tapered and fluted legs.
Measurements: 37 3/8" H x 25 1/2" D x 67" W x 16" H to seat
Extensive wear and loss to the giltwood surfaces throughout as expected. Upholstery is in overall "fair" condition with some obvious spots of darker discoloration on the seat and seat-back. Sturdy, strong and very comfortable.
