FRENCH PROVINCIAL STYLE FRUITWOOD BUREAU PLAT
Circa mid-20th century
Item # 905VPY31O
This attractive bureau plat is crafted in the Louis XVI taste during the middle of the 20th century, executed in solid fruitwood. It is true to the original forms with tenon-mortised joints locked together with twin pegs. Built to last the test of time, it is beautifully hand-crafted with hand-cut dovetails and an unusually sturdy form. The surface has faded over the years from sun exposure and is delightfully worn from rubbing and regular use, but remains in overall very good condition. It retains one original working key for the single middle drawer, the pair of drawers on the right and the single deep drawer on the left.
The size is very appealing and works beautifully with smaller interiors without overwhelming the setting. For anyone passionate about French antiques, it is a lovely find.
Measurements: 30 1/2" H x 26 1/4" D x 55 1/8" W; width when wings are withdrawn: 77" W (wings approximately 10 7/8" W)
Fading to the top (rear back right corner with noticeably less fading) as well as some fading to the sides; includes one working key. Otherwise very good condition.
