Signed lower left "T. Gassner 1878”, in oil on canvas
Item # 809AST15Q
A sprawling and complex sporting scene by unknown British artist “T. Gassner”, the painting captures a wide swath of countryside with spires of various town buildings peering over the horizon with hints of mountains in the far distance before an open meadow where the riders gather for the hunt. Dozens of hounds are waiting for the action to start as their owners converse under clear skies. It is a finely painted scene and is housed in an attractive giltwood frame.
