MODERN SCULPTED TEAK "BOOMERANG" DESK BY PETER LØVIG NIELSEN
Denmark, circa 1960s; branded to the underside Lovig / Dansk Designs Denmark
Item # 912NIJ13L
This distinctive freestanding writing desk was designed by Peter Løvig Nielsen and produced by Dansk Designs in the 1960s. Crafted of solid sculpted teak that melds into seamless teak veneers, the form is austere and makes a subtle nod at the L-shaped corner desks, though clearly it is intended to be centered in whatever room it becomes a part of.
The reverse side features an open bookshelf with a drop door cabinet on the left side, this with a single shelf and originally backed by a mirrored and decorated panel (now absent). The primary side has a stack of three drawers with sculpted handles, the desk raised over trapezoidal legs with shaped stretchers and brass accents.
Measurements: 59 1/8" W x 34 5/8" D x 29" H
Very slight seam edge to veneer on top. Missing the mirror backing for the cocktail cupboard. Surface in excellent condition with only the most minor of surface wear and use indicators. Two legs are replaced with a few holes in the underside from shifting where they were secured.
