NEOCLASSICAL BRUSHED STEEL, BRASS AND GLASS COCKTAIL TABLE
French, circa 1940s; in the manner of Maison Jansen
Item # 006APP18K
Of remarkably high quality, this fine cocktail table is a gorgeous statement piece. The thick leaded glass top is beveled on the edge, leading down into a molded cast-brass rim affixed from beneath the table with a series of machined screws through the brushed steel body. The table is raised over tapered steel legs terminating over solid turned brass ball sabots, the legs locked in place with arched stretchers that transition from solid square curved steel into three tiny solid steel dowels at the center.
Every element of this table is carefully conceived and is executed with utmost precision. The brushed steel and brass are all solid, resulting in somewhat inordinate weight to an otherwise small table. The result is a piece that stands the test of time and ages with grace. A very fine and stylish acquisition for both the modern and the traditional interior.
