PAIR OF CHARLES X ORMOLU CANDLESTICKS
France, circa 1825
Item # 104OCJ23L
An exquisite pair of Charles X period ormolu candlesticks circa 1825, these are beautifully crafted in seven parts with a removable gadroon-edged drip catch set within an acanthus cast socket over splayed palmetto leaves and a basket-weave latticework topping the tapered and reeded column raised over intricately chased and chiseled repeating acanthus foliage. These elements are all joined with a single steel threaded rod into the three animal-paw base, the legs each draped with a fine anthemion motif and situated over a triangular plinth.
