PAIR OF WIRE-BRUSHED WHITE OAK & BLACK CANVAS ARM CHAIRS
Circa third-quarter of 20th century; unmarked
Item # 208GHW18P
A very striking pair of wire-brushed oak arm chairs, they are by an unknown designer who clearly had a very keen eye for great lines and material. The wire-brushed white oak is a brilliant display of the best qualities of the wood, the rough texture softened by the oiled finish. The arms are tapered in reverse, starting at the front with the thickest diameter and slimming towards the stiles. The chair back of each rotates on stainless-steel bolts that we custom fabricated in-house to perfectly match the fine quality of the chairs. Each is covered in its original black canvas with various tears and blemishes; these tears could be resown in order to keep the original canvas, or naturally they are simple seats for an upholsterer to have made. Comfortable and incredibly eye-catching.
Measurements: 34" H x 23 7/8" D x 22 1/2" W x 18" H to seat
Condition Report:
Canvas is old and worn with tears in the fabric [needs to be changed]; old stress crack at one back right seat corner; surfaces carefully reconditioned and in excellent condition; stainless steel bolts that allow rotation of the seat backs are custom fabricated by our in-house studio to more appropriately fit the aesthetics of the chair.
