Persia, circa 1910
Item # 906WIP19A

This stunning rug is particularly eye-catching with the brilliant red overall ground against the light blue spandrels. The somewhat typical field of motifs is familiar to anyone passionate about the Heriz form, but the angularity of it is made most evident in the excellent low pile throughout, this allowing the design to be undistracted and at the forefront.

In the central motif we find the same bright blues surrounding a rosette with hints of florals on the red ground, this four-pointed motif filled with vines and serrated foliage and set within the navy ground of a large-scale outer medallion.

The primary ground features an all-over collection of symmetrical garden arrangement drawings.

For anyone passionate about the classical antique Heriz rug, this is an exceptional acquisition. Remaining even more relevant in today's more modern interior, the angularity and clarity of the geometrical weave allows it to work equally well in classical and contemporary interiors.

Measurements: 121 3/4" L x 80" W

Condition Report:
Low pile throughout with some minor weft/warp visibility, sturdy structure that is both soft and pliable; an estate rug, would perhaps brighten if professionally cleaned.
