GIACOMO SCARANTINO (ITALIAN/AMERICAN, 1872-1958) VERDIGRIS BRONZE SCULPTURE OF SEATED PAN
Signed in script G. Scarantino, inscribed ROMAN BRONZE WORKS
Item # 811NPU28K
Situated over a generous thick red granite base with faceted corners, this powerful sculpture depicts a figure of Pan sitting on a rock playing his wood flute. His figure is totally focused on the music, looking down the long pipes as his fingers depress and release the tiny holes. Modeled with a touch of modernism, it is a very finely cast work by Roman Bronze Works of New York, the foundry marking inscribed along the edge of the bronze base.
