"THE GARDEN BUNGALOW" BY ALFRED FONTEVILLE DE BREANSKI JR. (ENGLISH, 1877-1955)
Titled verso; signed lower right and verso; executed in oil on canvas
Item # 905BPP09K
One of seven children, Alfred Fonteville de Breanski Jr. was born to landscape painter Alfred de Breanski, Sr. and would become a third generation landscape painter. Developing on his father's work of dramatic Highland landscapes, Alfred became very interested in manipulating sunlight while working with a high-chroma palette. He emphasized golden light in the stead of the heavy atmospheric paintings of his father, a preference captured beautifully in the present example. In this work, a vibrant collection of garden flora and fauna are depicted in a chaotic and naturalistic landscape. A small dirt path meanders through the tall trumpets of flowers and colorful bushes on the way to a hidden bungalow. Typical of his works, it is titled verso and signed in his standard script lower right.
