ART DECO EBONIZED WALNUT AND ALUMINUM SIDE TABLE
Likely American, circa 1920s
Item # 802ALW24P
An interesting table from the second quarter of the 20th century with an ebonized oak veneer steam bent into a sprouted form over a solid cove molded base supported by curved aluminum and locked together with chromed steel screws under a thick tempered glass top. The table has been beautifully refinished and polished, the top being a replacement of the exact specifications of the original. A striking design, the opposing curvature of the sprouted walnut versus the complimentary curves of the aluminum and cove molding result in a complex and interesting form. It is unsigned and remains in excellent condition throughout.
We are in the process of having two more of these side tables slowly restored, one identical to this and one of a slightly larger dimension - these may be available in our current inventory or contact us to see when they will be available.
Measurements: 23 7/8” W x 23 7/8” D x 15 1/8” H
Condition Report:
Refinished, old wear to base edges. Aluminum polished but still shows old scratches and scuffs. New glass top (identical replacement of original).
