About us

silla was born out of a passion for beautiful objects: special pieces with aesthetic and historical significance. In 2009, after years of collecting, Andrew Silla and his wife Grace began to work privately with clients from their residence in Southern Maryland. Quickly outgrowing the space, the business was moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in 2012 and after several warehouse location changes it was firmly settled in the present brick-and-mortar location in downtown Shippensburg.

The 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery is home to a large collection of works of art and estate jewelry. We specialize in sculpture circa 1860 through 1930 with a particular emphasis on the Animaliers and as such the gallery always has a very large collection of exceptional European and American sculpture available on display.

We are always in the market to buy rare and exquisite sculpture and paintings. Our focuses include the Animal Sculptors, predominantly French and American, executed circa 1860 through 1940, as well as the sculptors of the Romantic era and the Art Deco period. We are also interested in fine works of art from other periods and movements throughout the 19th and 20th centuries. We also carry a diverse collection of European and American paintings circa 1850 through 1940, but our emphasis remains on 19th century landscapes, the Animal painters and the Barbizon School.

What do I need to present a piece for sale?

  • PRICE: An asking price is required for all items offered to us for sale.
  • PROVENANCE: A statement of how you came to acquire the item is required as well as any documented provenance, gallery invoices or authentication paperwork. All of this will impact the final purchase price so gathering as many documents as possible is always beneficial
  • PHOTOGRAPHS: We will require extensive photography of the piece being offered including signatures, close ups on details (i.e fingers, face, feet) foundry markings, underside and construction details, flaws and blemishes

Email sales@sillafineantiques with the above information and we will get back to you as soon as we have a chance to review everything.
