A wonderful set of six plates executed on paper with a blue tint in 1778 by Etienne Claude Voysard and published by Esnauts & Rapilly after the original artworks by Pierre Ranson, the prints are quite hard to find and examples of the set are held in the permanent collections of the Louvre [acc. no. L 450 LR/16], the Rijksmuseum [acc. no. RP-P-1908-5533 through 5539] and the Staatliche Museum of Berlin. Each retains its nearly full page. Crisply engraved and well-preserved.
Measurements: each page is approximately 14 1/2" H x 10 1/8" W
Condition Report: Unframed. Pages with trace spotting and foxing at the margins, some water-staining at extreme edges as well as losses to extreme edges of the paper; plate 1 with smudging to right edge plate edge and three spots of discoloration to the background; plate 2 with smudging to lower right corner at plate edge, right side of border with spot of rusty discoloration; plate 3 with rusty discoloration in lower right corner of background as well as in the right border of image; plate 6 with two spots of rusty discoloration at the border and smudging in the right side within the border; a very well-preserved set ready to frame.
