FRANZ PELESCHKA (GERMAN, B. 1873) ART DECO BRONZE SCULPTURE
"Tanzende mit Kastagnetten" c. 1915
Item # 511EER17Z
A moving subject of a belly dancer executed by Franz Peleschka, the sculpture is an exceptionally well detailed cast with precise chiseling and filing of even the smallest elements. Her fingers, finger nails, the tiny “clappers” in her hands, facial features and sandals are crisp and perfect. A beautiful rubbed bronze patination presents the surface most handsomely, the delicate balance between browns and golds contrasting the original mottled purple marble base. The work has such movement, her fluid motions captured with an exacting realism that is most elegant as the dancer’s body twists and the detailed skirt wrinkles and twists, furling out behind her as her feet are firmly set on the square base. This exquisite piece will certainly be a cherished piece by even the most particular collector of Art Deco sculpture.
