About us

silla was born out of a passion for beautiful objects: special pieces with aesthetic and historical significance. In 2009, after years of collecting, Andrew Silla and his wife Grace began to work privately with clients from their residence in Southern Maryland. Quickly outgrowing the space, the business was moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in 2012 and after several warehouse location changes it was firmly settled in the present brick-and-mortar location in downtown Shippensburg.

The 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery is home to a large collection of works of art and estate jewelry. We specialize in sculpture circa 1860 through 1930 with a particular emphasis on the Animaliers and as such the gallery always has a very large collection of exceptional European and American sculpture available on display.

SET OF FOUR MODEL 78 TEAK DINING CHAIRS BY NIELS MØLLER
For manufacture by J.L. Møbelfabrik, Denmark, circa 1960s
Item # 109YOK18P

An exquisite set of sculpted teak dining chairs designed as Model 78 by Niels Møller in the 1960s, they have become an iconic form of the period. All four retain original bound papercord seats [can be replaced upon request with a 2 week lead-time] and the branding marks on the inside of the rails for J.L. Møbelfabrik and Danish Control, as well as serial numbers. A sleek and most comfortable set.

Measurements: 31 7/8" H x 19" D x 19" W x 17 1/2" H to seat

Condition Report:
All papercord seats need to be replaced [torn, damaged, stained]; due to our conservator's schedule, these are being photographed as-is, but we can have this completed upon request with a 2 week leadtime; teak surfaces beautifully refinished and in excellent condition with only minor vintage wear/use indicators. A very fine iconic set.
