About us

silla was born out of a passion for beautiful objects: special pieces with aesthetic and historical significance. In 2009, after years of collecting, Andrew Silla and his wife Grace began to work privately with clients from their residence in Southern Maryland. Quickly outgrowing the space, the business was moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in 2012 and after several warehouse location changes it was firmly settled in the present brick-and-mortar location in downtown Shippensburg.

The 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery is home to a large collection of works of art and estate jewelry. We specialize in sculpture circa 1860 through 1930 with a particular emphasis on the Animaliers and as such the gallery always has a very large collection of exceptional European and American sculpture available on display.

AN ART NOUVEAU WROUGHT IRON MARBLE TOP CONSOLE TABLE
Circa 1st quarter of 20th century
Item # 111CLJ03Q

Rich with texture and chaotic color, this wonderful selection of iron-work features a crafty construction that minimizes the use of welds in favor of pinned tenon joints. An angular and austere form, the marble top is plain with squared edges and only a slight projection over the simple lines of the console. Central to the design is the cast iron circular raised-relief pierced display of flowers and foliage. The console retains a very early paint in the texture, crevices and a handful of surfaces, but the majority of it has developed a natural patina from exposure to oxygen over the years.

Measurements: 37 3/4" H x 16 1/8" D x 53" W

Condition Report:
Remnants of the original paint, flaking and extremely worn; iron with rusted surface throughout; various spots of discoloration to the marble. Incredibly heavy and well-built.
