About us

silla was born out of a passion for beautiful objects: special pieces with aesthetic and historical significance. In 2009, after years of collecting, Andrew Silla and his wife Grace began to work privately with clients from their residence in Southern Maryland. Quickly outgrowing the space, the business was moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in 2012 and after several warehouse location changes it was firmly settled in the present brick-and-mortar location in downtown Shippensburg.

The 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery is home to a large collection of works of art and estate jewelry. We specialize in sculpture circa 1860 through 1930 with a particular emphasis on the Animaliers and as such the gallery always has a very large collection of exceptional European and American sculpture available on display.

Manufactured by Karl Mathsson in Värnamo, Sweden circa 1950s; branded to underside of retention bar
Item # 109MMI29A

A most versatile "Maria Flap" dining table designed by Bruno Mathsson and manufactured by Karl Mathsson in Värnamo, Sweden in the 1950s, this fine piece shifts in form from being a full length 110" dining table to a more intimate 58" breakfast table while also being easily tucked away as a console against the wall when fully closed. The top is executed in teak and the legs and frame are solid birch with brass hardware. The retention bar locks the entire structure together when folded and is branded on the underside.

Measurements: 28 3/16" H x 35 3/8" D x 58 1/8" W (without ends extended); 110 3/8" W (ends extended)

Condition Report:
Surface with minor use indicators and gentle wear throughout; one spot in table top with a filling; some discoloration to legs. Very sturdy and stable. Overall a very fine presentation.
