About us

silla was born out of a passion for beautiful objects: special pieces with aesthetic and historical significance. In 2009, after years of collecting, Andrew Silla and his wife Grace began to work privately with clients from their residence in Southern Maryland. Quickly outgrowing the space, the business was moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in 2012 and after several warehouse location changes it was firmly settled in the present brick-and-mortar location in downtown Shippensburg.

The 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery is home to a large collection of works of art and estate jewelry. We specialize in sculpture circa 1860 through 1930 with a particular emphasis on the Animaliers and as such the gallery always has a very large collection of exceptional European and American sculpture available on display.

MODEL NO. 254 ROSEWOOD EXTENDING DINING TABLE BY NIELS O. MØLLER
Denmark, circa 1960s; produced by J.L Møllers Møbelfabrik
Item # 911NYA09K

A relatively scarce dining table by Niels Møller and manufactured by J.L Møllers Møbelfabrik in Denmark, it is a fine combination of rosewood veneers framed by ebony borders set over an apron and sculpted legs executed in solid teak for a dramatic effect. The top features matched veneers with symmetrical grain profiles, the "double" layer of the edge hiding the top extension leaves that are withdrawn easily from either side. The table is marked to the underside with the J.L Møllers manufacturing brand and the Danish Control mark.

Measurements: 29 1/8" H x 40 7/8" D x 70 7/8" W [closed]; 116 3/8" W [both leaves extended]

Condition Report:
Color variation between the extension leaves and the table top. Discoloration to top in a few spots, some minor edge wear. An overall matte oil finish, quite attractive and well-preserved. Sturdy and smooth functioning draws under the table. A good presentation ready to place.
