About us

silla was born out of a passion for beautiful objects: special pieces with aesthetic and historical significance. In 2009, after years of collecting, Andrew Silla and his wife Grace began to work privately with clients from their residence in Southern Maryland. Quickly outgrowing the space, the business was moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in 2012 and after several warehouse location changes it was firmly settled in the present brick-and-mortar location in downtown Shippensburg.

The 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery is home to a large collection of works of art and estate jewelry. We specialize in sculpture circa 1860 through 1930 with a particular emphasis on the Animaliers and as such the gallery always has a very large collection of exceptional European and American sculpture available on display.

EUGENE AIZELIN (FRENCH, 1821-1902) ANTIQUE BRONZE SCULPTURE "PSYCHE"
"F. Barbedienne Fondeurs" w/ Collas reduction seal en verso
Impressed "Ene. Aizelin. Fit. 1863"
Item # 1406PPD16Z

This sculpture by Eugene Aizelin was originally offered by F. Barbedienne in six editions: 129 cm at 3,000 (franc), 86 cm at 1,000, 76 cm at 675, 51 cm at 400, 43 cm at 275, 31 cm at 200 and 25 cm at 150. The original sculpture in marble is held in the collection of the Luxembourg in Paris. The detail in this cast by Barbedienne is absolutely pristine, each aspect of her figure and garb perfectly chased and filed into a near photographic representation. Probably executed by Barbedienne in the last years of the 19th century, the sculpture remains in pristine condition. For serious collectors of fine French bronze sculptures, particularly subjects of Romanticism, this is a positively exceptional acquisition.
