FRENCH WROUGHT IRON ARRAS PLANTER STAND OR JARDINIERRE
Circa late 19th/early 20th century, with a zinc insert
36" H x 45" W x 17" D
An iconic form from the late 19th/early 20th century typically associated with Arras, France, this example features a fabulous swirling form in the wrought iron that is highly organic and naturalistic. It replicates what is found in the garden with elements freely flowing, the tendrils of iron even reaching up and through the zinc planter in delicate furls. The surface is so compelling: rich greens, rust hues and dark earthy browns.
Condition: Good condition. Lovely all-over surface patina. Sturdy and stable. Tarnish and discoloration as expected. Ready to place.
