About us

silla was born out of a passion for beautiful objects: special pieces with aesthetic and historical significance. In 2009, after years of collecting, Andrew Silla and his wife Grace began to work privately with clients from their residence in Southern Maryland. Quickly outgrowing the space, the business was moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in 2012 and after several warehouse location changes it was firmly settled in the present brick-and-mortar location in downtown Shippensburg.

The 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery is home to a large collection of works of art and estate jewelry. We specialize in sculpture circa 1860 through 1930 with a particular emphasis on the Animaliers and as such the gallery always has a very large collection of exceptional European and American sculpture available on display.

PAIR OF MID-CENTURY CHROME, BRASS AND GLASS ETAGERE BOOKSHELVES
In the manner of Maison Jansen, circa mid 20th century
Item # 904SAN13A

A nice modernist pair of chromed steel and brass open bookshelves with five-shelves on each, it features brass highlights at each shelf juncture as well as including machined brass feet and turned ball finials on the top corners. They are unmarked but are in a style typically associated with the famous designer Maison Jansen, both clearly being from the middle of the 20th century and of a good quality. A very sturdy and well-made pair.

Measurements: 74 5/8" H x 14 1/2" D x 30 1/2" W

Condition Report:
Scuffs and wear to the chrome and brass throughout including minor pitting; several replaced glass shelves and there is some variation in the treatment of the corners on the glass shelves (some rounded profile and some squared); light scuffing to glass. A good presentation.
