About us

silla was born out of a passion for beautiful objects: special pieces with aesthetic and historical significance. In 2009, after years of collecting, Andrew Silla and his wife Grace began to work privately with clients from their residence in Southern Maryland. Quickly outgrowing the space, the business was moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in 2012 and after several warehouse location changes it was firmly settled in the present brick-and-mortar location in downtown Shippensburg.

The 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery is home to a large collection of works of art and estate jewelry. We specialize in sculpture circa 1860 through 1930 with a particular emphasis on the Animaliers and as such the gallery always has a very large collection of exceptional European and American sculpture available on display.

PAIR OF LOUIS XV GILTWOOD CONSOLE TABLES
Continental, circa late 18th century
Item # 307PAN13W

A striking pair of carved giltwood Rococo period console tables with an undulating curvature in the gentle serpentine of the Breccia Medicea marble tops that follows through to the body of each. These gorgeous stones are characterized by hues of violet and include a simple molded edge. Each apron is naturalistically carved and decorated with rocaille elements, these centered around a pierced shell focal point with the typical motifs that are built around numerous iterations of the opposing C-scrolls, these captured most boldly in the upper curvature of the legs. The legs are individually and uniquely carved with floral representations and are locked in place with a brilliantly developed stretcher featuring a large curving shell wrapped in acanthus flowing out along the molded legs.

Measurements: 32 1/8" H x 18 1/2" D x 36 1/2" W

Condition Report:
Regilded, restorations and rebuilding. Marble tops are probably old replacements. Various chips and wear to the gilding along with old restored cracks in the joints, several seams at joints. Various holes in the backboard from mounting the tables to the wall in various positions.
