About us

silla was born out of a passion for beautiful objects: special pieces with aesthetic and historical significance. In 2009, after years of collecting, Andrew Silla and his wife Grace began to work privately with clients from their residence in Southern Maryland. Quickly outgrowing the space, the business was moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in 2012 and after several warehouse location changes it was firmly settled in the present brick-and-mortar location in downtown Shippensburg.

The 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery is home to a large collection of works of art and estate jewelry. We specialize in sculpture circa 1860 through 1930 with a particular emphasis on the Animaliers and as such the gallery always has a very large collection of exceptional European and American sculpture available on display.

PAIR OF MH195 LOWBACK ARMCHAIRS WITH OTTOMAN BY MOGENS HANSEN
In top-grain black leather with blonde beechwood frames | last quarter of the 20th century
Item # 306LIK27P

This very nicely patinated pair of MH195 lowback armchairs retain their original worn top-grain black leather coverings over the blonde solid beechwood frames. Included is the matched ottoman, something of a rarity with this chair and particularly nice when arranged as a trio. The chairs and ottoman have always been together and match perfectly. A sleek design that gives great emphasis to personal comfort, the chairs are easy to totally relax into while looking absolutely fantastic. And the aged surfaces and natural patina bring some interesting surface history to play on the interior as well. A very nice selection.

Measurements: [chairs] 29 1/4" H x 31" D x 27 1/2" W x 16 1/4" H to seat; [ottoman] 15" H x 18 3/8" D x 22 1/8" W

Condition Report:
Heavily worn original leather covering with blemishes and scuffs; the leather remains mostly soft and pliable throughout with some spots of dryness, overall being incredibly comfortable; some impressions in the leather (notable on the upper left side of one chair); piping on left arm of one chair worn through to reveal the wire inner core; beautifully patinated leather, worn throughout with crackled surface and creasing; a few paint specks; beechwood beautifully patinated with discolorations and wear. Sturdy joints. Incredibly comfortable.
