About us

silla was born out of a passion for beautiful objects: special pieces with aesthetic and historical significance. In 2009, after years of collecting, Andrew Silla and his wife Grace began to work privately with clients from their residence in Southern Maryland. Quickly outgrowing the space, the business was moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in 2012 and after several warehouse location changes it was firmly settled in the present brick-and-mortar location in downtown Shippensburg.

The 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery is home to a large collection of works of art and estate jewelry. We specialize in sculpture circa 1860 through 1930 with a particular emphasis on the Animaliers and as such the gallery always has a very large collection of exceptional European and American sculpture available on display.

PAIR OF SCULPTED WALNUT MODEL NO. 711 LOUNGE CHAIRS
Designed by Frederik Kayser in 1961, produced by LK Hjelle, Norway, ca. 21st century | retails new for $ 4400-4900/each
Item # 312NWT08A

An exceedingly beautiful pair of chairs originally designed by Frederick Kayser in 1961 and produced by LK Hjelle of Norway in the last twenty years or so, there has simply been no expense spared in the careful craftsmanship of this chair. The solid walnut of each is endlessly sculpted and shaped to create an incredibly beautiful profile - the arms are the standout, each with a fantastic scooped profile terminating in large spheroid terminals on either end. Well considered machined steel hardware joins the frame to the seating allowing it to visually float apart from the frame. Gorgeous top-grain black leather finishes each chair.

These can still be found in production by LK Hjelle, generally for between $ 4400-4900 each depending on the finish and leather.

Measurements: 31" H x 17" H to seat; 27 3/8" D x 27 3/8" W

Condition Report:
Minor blemishes to the leather, all of which has been reconditioned, is supple, soft and presents beautifully. Minor dings and abrasions to the chairs, all of which has been re-polished and glows nicely under the application of waxes in our restoration studio. Exquisite. Ready to place.
