About us

silla was born out of a passion for beautiful objects: special pieces with aesthetic and historical significance. In 2009, after years of collecting, Andrew Silla and his wife Grace began to work privately with clients from their residence in Southern Maryland. Quickly outgrowing the space, the business was moved from Maryland to Pennsylvania in 2012 and after several warehouse location changes it was firmly settled in the present brick-and-mortar location in downtown Shippensburg.

The 9000 square foot brick-and-mortar gallery is home to a large collection of works of art and estate jewelry. We specialize in sculpture circa 1860 through 1930 with a particular emphasis on the Animaliers and as such the gallery always has a very large collection of exceptional European and American sculpture available on display.

ARMAND GODARD
French, fl. 1920s

Seated Woman Holding a Bird

Silver patinated bronze situated over prehistoric petrified wood base | engraved on the base GODARD

Item # 303XAF30W

An exquisitely cast example of Armand Godard's Seated Woman Holding a Bird circa 1930, it is a silky smooth cast of the highest quality with hand-hammered and beautifully chiseled texture in the hair. All elements of the young woman are beautifully articulated. The base is particularly beautiful, a vibrant stone of prehistoric petrified wood that has been shaped and polished to catch and reflect light in the most magnificent way. A superior model.

Measurements: 14 1/4" H (total with base); 11 3/4" H (bronze only); 22 1/2" W (base only); 23 1/2" W total width; 4 3/4" D (base)

Condition Report:
Very fine original condition. Discolorations to the original silvered patina and light wear from handling and surface tarnish that has become part of the patina. Base in excellent condition with faint spots of matteness that could be polished out upon request.
